Higher Blackley

Higher Blackley is about five miles north of the city centre, along Victoria Avenue, between Rochdale Road in the east and Heaton Park in the west. It's close to the M60 motorway around Manchester - so there's good access to other parts of the city and the north west. See rehousing area map (pdf).

Living in Higher Blackley

There's a good choice of local shops and banks, doctors and dentists along Victoria Avenue; plus a large Sainsburys supermarket near Heaton Park, and a smaller supermarket at the Rochdale Road crossroads.

The eastern side of the area is just over a mile from Middleton where there are more shops and local facilities.

There are regular buses on Victoria Avenue and along Rochdale Road to Manchester and to Middleton. The vibrant city centre with its shopping, entertainment and leisure facilities is a 20 minute journey. The Metrolink tram station at Bowker Vale is a mile away from the western side of Higher Blackley.

Homes here are within walking distance of Heaton Park - one of the biggest city parks Europe.
